I think that it would have revealed the glitches in the system. While it would be great to be debt free there are a lot of people who live on credit. Removing their habit would create a vacuum in economies all around the world, the US probably would be hit hardest. It would stop a lot of trade worldwide and create havoc. Of course, a lot of this would depend on how reliable and sophisticated the recovery systems of the credit institions. Even so this is all just speculation on a situation that was written in a book so who knows? I think the fight always goes on if there are people left willing to take it up, and that this is being proven daily.
